In 1916, Maurice Epstein, with just one sewing machine, started Mid-West Cap Works Company.
Epstein, having sold hats previously, felt there was a good long-term future in headwear. History has proven Epstein right.
The Mid-West Cap Works Company grew, undergoing several name changes, ultimately becoming Imperial Headwear, Inc.
Imperial’s ongoing formula for key success has been a combination of reading the marketplace and manufacturing high quality products. Imperial started with highly fashionable wool dress caps in 1916.
During the twenties and thirties, uniform caps were added to the product mix. World War II saw Imperial branching out into military caps, as well as focusing on sales to major US chain stores.
Imperial continued to grow throughout the fifties by branching out again, this time into the growing golf market and the outdoor market, including fishing and skiing.
These successful market segments enhanced Imperial’s reputation as a respected supplier, who provides high quality, experienced service and value.
Since then, Imperial has proven itself as the leading supplier of quality and innovation in these markets.
In addition, Imperial is proud to be the licensee for prestigious golf tournaments including the US Open, Ryder Cup, British Open and PGA Championship.
Imperial's foundation is built not only on the products we provide, but also on the people we serve.
At Imperial, our customers' needs are always on top of mind as we continually strive to be the service leader in our marketplaces.
