Silicone is derived from Silicon, a natural element found in sand, quartz, and rock. After oxygen, it is the most abundant element on Earth.

Silicone is non-toxic when incinerated and landfill safe.

It is both the most effective and the most environmentally friendly non-stick surface coating.

Unfortunately, many parchment papers are coated with Quilon, a chemical containing Chromium – a heavy metal – which when incinerated becomes toxic and leaves trace elements behind.

The reason most parchment paper is Quilon-coated is the cost, which is substantially lower than silicone.

Since it can be reused several times, silicone-coated paper is also cost effective and has traditionally been the choice of professionals

In addition to these benefits, this paper is 100% unbleached so no chlorine is dumped into our waterways during production.
