greenboatstuff.com is a family owned business.

We are committed to running an environmentally friendly company.

Before we carry any product we ask ourselves how that products' production, distribution, and ultimate use affects the world around us.

Being boaters, we specifically look at what would happen to any of our products if they go over the side and end up a part of the marine ecosystem. We strive to offer only those products that will biodegrade in a reasonable period of time and do no harm as they break down.

In every aspect of our business, from product selection to shipping methods and materials we try to minimize the impact we have on Planet Earth. We welcome customer comments and suggestions, both good and bad, as part of our effort to be a better company. As members of One Percent for the Planet we donate 1% of our gross annual sales to environmental causes we believe in, primarily those groups committed to clean, healthy oceans and waterways.

Shipping Information:

GROUND SHIPPING IS FREE ON ALL ORDERS OF $150 OR MORE!

In an effort to keep things simple we have a very basic shipping rate schedule. Please refer to the Shipping Rates section found near the top of the page for specifics.

We usually ship via UPS, FedEX, DHL, or the US Post Office. Large orders of especially heavy materials may be shipped by our freight carriers. To reduce the impact on the environment we prefer to ship using ground services.

The resources used to ship by air are estimated to be over twelve times those required to ship by ground. Of course, if you are in a hurry we can ship air freight, but if not, shipping by ground saves you money and helps the planet.

Local customers in the Eastern Washington, North Idaho area can contact us to arrange pick up or delivery of their orders and avoid shipping charges. We process most orders the day they are received and ship within 48 hours.

Refund, Returns and Cancellation Policies:

We offer an Iron Clad return policy. If, at any time you are not satisfied with a product you have purchased from us simply return it to us and we will refund your money or provide you in store credit; whichever you prefer.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who Are You?

- greenboatstuff.com is a family run business. Our founder, Eric Allen, is an avid sailor who became frustrated trying to find environmentally friendly products at traditional boating supply stores. A committed conservationist, Eric became fed up with products that claimed to be "biodegradable" or "environmentally friendly," but then failed to disclose their ingredients. Or, if they did disclose their contents, they were full of petroleum based chemicals and other toxins that could take years to breakdown. This frustration led him to open greenboatstuff.com after a long and well researched effort to find high quality products that live up to their claims without harming the Planet.

What Does "Biodegradable" or "Environmentally Friendly" Really Mean?

- Unfortunately, not much under the law. Current regulations do not define either term legally so many companies just slap the words on their label and hope consumers won't ask any questions. Given enough time even an oil spill will biodegrade, but does that mean you should dump oil over the side? Of course not. At greenboatstuff.com most of the products we carry are made from all natural and in many cases certified organic ingredients that biodegrade rapidly without poisoning the environment.

Please visit www.greenboatblog.com for more information about what is really happening to our waterways and what you can do to help.

What Does "Organic" Mean?

- Thanks to ever-increasing pressure from eco-conscious consumers use of the word "Organic" does have some teeth to it, but again, be careful. Organic fabric and clothing has been made from plant or animal material that is chemical and pesticide free. Organic foods, oils and other agricultural products are grown under similar natural conditions. The reasons to buy organic are many, but essentially, you are purchasing products that will not leach man made toxins into your body, while at the same time you are supporting production methods that eliminate the use of dangerous substances that might end up in our soil, water, and air.

Where Are You and Where Do You Ship To?

- We are located in Spokane, Washington and we ship product all over the world. We try to ship as environmentally friendly as we can, avoiding Styrofoam, plastic tape, and any other material that has a negative impact on Planet Earth. We prefer to ship via ground carriers since air shipment uses roughly twelve times the resources, however, if you are in a hurry we can ship air no problem.

How Do You Accept Orders?

- We accept orders through our website www.greenboatstuff.com, our toll free number 1-866-535-1610, by email sent to eric@greenboatstuff.com, by regular mail sent to Greenboatstuff LLC, 1003 W 21st Ave, Spokane, WA 99203, or by fax at 509-443-3655. We accept major credit cards and/or Paypal. We will accept cashiers checks and money orders, although merchandise will not ship until funds clear.

Do You Charge Sales Tax?

- Only to residents of Washington State.

Do You Sell or Exchange Customer Info?

- Never, unless a customer requests we forward their info to one of our partners or the environmental groups we support.

What Is One Percent For The Planet?

- One Percent For The Planet is a group of businesses who have signed a contract to donate One Percent of their gross sales to qualifying environmental groups. Many businesses claim to support the environment, however, their actual donations can be manipulated through tricky accounting. One Percent For The Planet members pledge to make a consistent, easily verifiable donation to those groups whose values they share.

What Is Your Return Policy?

- Our return policy is Iron Clad. If, at any time you are not satisfied with a product you have purchased from us simply return it to us and we will refund your money or offer you in store credit; whichever you prefer.
